Fox has begun casting for Utopia, its "social reality experiment series," where 15 people spend a year in an isolated, undeveloped location and create their own civilization from scratch. What better place to find that kind of hubris than Silicon Valley?

This is not an April Fool's Day prank. Promise. Deadline reported that Fox picked up Utopia back in January. The show is being produced by John de Mol, the billionaire behind Big Brother, Fear Factor, and Deal or No Deal.

Lisa Guillen from the Conlin Company confirmed to Valleywag by phone that the show was searching for entrepreneurs. The email below went out to certain San Francisco founders.

Guillen told Valleywag she was looking for groups with different skill sets, like farmers or doctors: "We'd at least like to set them up with a little bit of knowledge so that if it's a farmer they can milk a cow or a doctor to take care of them when they're sick."

Subject: "Utopia" on Fox - casting

Hello,

My name is Lisa Guillen, I'm working on a new reality show and I'm reaching out because we're casting right now!

The show is called Utopia – which will air on Fox. It's a social experiment reality show that takes 15 people and asks them to create their own Utopia together. There's no existing power structure and very limited amenities. So basically, the 15 people will be asked to create their own world from barebones for an entire year.

So I'm reaching out to people in the entrepreneur/business community to see if they would be interested in being apart of the show since they would obviously have a lot of ideals and qualities that would be useful when creating a new society.

Do you think you guys would at all be interested in helping to spread the word? I attached some flyers that you can add to a newsletter, blog or any form of social media.

Please let me know if you're interested in more information and I'll be sure to send it your way.

Thanks,
Lisa Guillen
