On Marketplace like two weeks ago, they had some telecom loving mouth-breather (who was a Stanford Proff) try and claim that getting rid of net neutrality would encourage innovation. I just wanted to punch him in the mouth, because innovating how to dick people out of a few more dollars is not the kind of innovation I want to encourage.
Maybe equal Internet access for all is so important we should make it a public utility.

How about a free national network, so that Americans anywhere can access basic Internet services? Just like we have Public Television and a National Weather Service.
Please no, are we going to see wiki style 'donation' banner or will they just interrupt my streaming a few times a year for pledge drives? Is Netflix streaming a right now?

I just got a message an hour ago from Comcast that I am about to exceed the limit on the datacap they have now started using (I used 295 GB out of 300 GB). They told me the things that use the most are streaming sites (Netflix), YouTube and gaming sites. They will kindly sell me more for $10/ 50 GB. The service has been really slow the last week too
Tech: "Let's go totally digital. Cloud! Stream! Digital copies of media! Yay!"
ISPs: "You went over your data cap for the month downloading that game update so we're going to need $X00 in overage fees for that. Also you downloaded that on an Xbox while we support Sony on our Hyperion Speedmaster X3000 Network so we'll be slowing you down. Should you choose to switch we'd be happy to bring your speeds back up to the tier you have purchased."
No problem here. No, siree.
