Sarah Lacy Says She'd Never Want To Hurt a Company
What a kind heart. Right now, middling trade pub editor and anti-labor activist Sarah Lacy is talking about a story her website recently botched. It's boring, so don't click that, but she did have one line that reveals everything you need to know:
"I don't want to do damage to anyone's company."
In nearly the next breath, she refers to herself as a "journalist." However you want to define that (let's not), it's not compatible with an open wish to not harm a company. Harming a company is what happens sometimes when you, say, think critically, or report on a story. But Lacy is still able to keep a lint ball of influence in Silicon Valley for just that reason: the pretense of "the news" with none of its truth. Always be friendly. Do no harm. This is a safe space.
