Kim Kardashian Illuminati West was on stage with Recode founder Kara Swisher this afternoon at the tech blog's Code/Mobile conference. I have no idea whether she arrived from Calabasas with a list of questions Swisher couldn't ask, but regardless this is one stiletto-heeled step for Kardashian and one giant kick in the head for tech kind.

Megan Smith, formerly of Google's shadowy "X" facility, is the new Chief Technology Officer of the United States, tasked with maintaining a technological edge for the entire country.

According to the usual anonymous administration sources, Bloomberg is reporting that Megan Smith, VP of Google's shadowy R&D lab, will assume the role of Obama's top tech advisor:

The mission statement for AOL's invite-only Makers Conference sounded suspect from the start. How can a random assortment of high-profile women (and a handful of male executives) possibly presume to "reset the agenda for women in the workplace" during a private excursion at an oceanside resort?

Makers began as a documentary about the history of women's equality developed by AOL and PBS, but seems to have morphed into a brand of its own. Next week, Makers is hosting a three-day conference where Sheryl Sandberg, Eric Schmidt, Tim Armstrong, and others plan to "reset the agenda for women in the workplace in the 21st century."

AllThingsD editors Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg made a deal with NBCUniversal "for a news and conference business that will bring their current staff" to a new, still unnamed website. The holding company is called Revere Digital, after the Revolutionary War hero.

Last month, Reuters asked if Rupert Murdoch could hold on to Kara Swisher, the "best journalist (so far) of the new millennium." The answer is officially no, according to Fortune's Dan Primack, who first reported that AllThingsD had tapped the investment bank Code Advisors "to find outside investors" for a deal "that could exceed $25 million" (the price AOL paid for TechCrunch in 2010.)
