It's been a couple months since the last employee throat-slitting over at AOL, but the peaceful streak ends today: more firings across many departments while a new exec summers on Martha's Vineyard.

Just over a month after investors valued sparkly decor warehouse Fab.com as a $1 billion company, the commerce startup is laying off 100 employees, reports AllThingsD.

Ben Huh made himself a rich man by selling advertisements against captioned pictures of cats that other people created—something of a 21st century Andrew Carnegie. But the "I can haz _____" fever cooled, and Huh found himself with an overextended business, and had to axe staff. How's it feel to order a bloodletting? It "sucks."

Remember Oyster.com, the haute travel service that was briefly a bastion for travel writers, then a glam hotel review site, and then just sort of a booking service? The long death march is coming to an end: virtually every employee just got axed today.

The east coast presence of Zynga, that once-proud and mighty maker of tractor simulators, has been decimated—but it looks like it's not completely gone. Yet. A skeleton crew of doomed software refugees is sticking around Zynga's Manhattan turf, given the terrible "choice" between staying on longer or forfeiting their full termination packages.

AOL Music lasted fifteen years before it was destroyed late last month without warning or much of a funeral. After talking with a survivor (of sorts) from the wreckage, you have to wonder how anyone could last longer than fifteen minutes.

Cheezburger Network, which has amassed a heap of attention (and millions in VC money) just announced it's canning 24 employees. Why? Well, they're just not making enough money. Full statement below:
