Tech cos using commuter buses will pay SF around $100k each for a total of about $1.5 million over 18 month pilot program.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency still needs to approve the plan at a January 21st meeting before it goes into action.
Shuttle companies like Bauer’s and the tech giants that employ them well be charged based on the number of MUNI stops they use. Kerman reports the pilot could generate $1.5 milllion, implying 10 to 15 companies could be on the hook to pay a fee for their shuttles.
Seems like the beginnings of an ok compromise, right? $100K is a drop in the bucket for Google's employee perks related spend, and the city of SF gets a bit of money to offset whatever negative externalities the buses cause while still retaining the ease of residence for Google employees (whatever your feelings are about Googlers commuting from SF, it's good for the city's tax base).
Even better for the city's tax base if they're paying to use public bus stops.
Yea, I hope they work something out here so that this stops being a problem. The bus stops are obviously convenient for Google Busses since they are built for busses, but there clearly needs to be better communication about when they will be there.
Good for SF to stand up to those tech companies sending buses full of jokers to Silicon Valley. Hipsters should stay in SF.
