Mark Penn, former Clinton administration aide turned bumbling corporate flack, just got a new gig at Microsoft, Recode reports, running corporate strategy. He's also the brain (?) behind one of the company's worst-ever corporate strategies.

Penn devised "Scroogled," an anti-Google advertising campaign of sorts that did nothing but somehow make Microsoft seem more Jurassic and unappealing than it already was. It did nothing but embarrass Microsoft employees and provide easy jokes for the rest of us.

Mark Penn, the new guy in charge of coming up with public-facing ideas, thought that people would buy and wear that t-shirt in public. Just think that over.
