YouTube Creators Kill Off Another Failed Side Project
After Chad Hurley and Steve Chen invented YouTube, they walked away with a bundle of cash and got to work making new websites. Unfortunately, these websites were the exact opposite of YouTube, in that no one wants to use them—now another is headed to the junk pile.
Zeen, which was supposed to be sort of like Pinterest but of course never was, will die forever on December 8th. Used by few, mourned by none. This is the plan instead:
AVOS (the company behind Zeen) has decided to focus our efforts on MixBit, our video creation app that allows people to create stories together.
MixBit got a tiny amount of interest this week after video from the Kanye and Kim proposal was hosted there and shared around—so as long as Hurley can continue to attend hugely exclusive celebrity moments and quickly upload proof, MixBit has a shot.
