New York's Office Space Nightmare Buys Man a $10 Million House
Unless you have a lot of money, it's often impossible to find a suitable spot for your business in New York, with office lease prices through the roof—and if you're a cash-strapped startup, well, don't bother getting out of bed. Shared offices are increasingly the norm, and it's a good business to be in.
New York real estate site The Real Deal has some good news about Adam Neumann, CEO of WeWork, a hugely popular coworking outfit:
Adam Neumann, the founder of collaborative workspace provider WeWork, has a new transaction to add to his repertoire, but this time it's not for office space. Neumann, along with his actress and filmmaker wife Rebekah Paltrow Neumann (a cousin of Gwyneth), bought a townhouse at 41 West 11th Street for $10.5 million, according to city records filed today.
The home is located between Fifth and Sixth avenues in the Greenwich Village...built in 1847 in the Greek Revival style, according to the listing. It boasts seven wood-burning fireplaces and original hardwood flooring. The parlor alone has full-height windows and plaster rosettes. There are six bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and the home is configured as an owners' triplex topped with a guest suite.
Nice place. Remember: prohibitive costs are bad except to the people for whom they're great.
