The makeover success streak at Betaworks is bordering on witchcraft: after pulling Digg out of oblivion, coming to the aid of mourning Google Reader users, and wasting millions of productivity hours with Dots, Instapaper joins the 21st century with a new design. It's good!

A staple of the Gilded Age 2.0 startup party, beyond custom stickers and a GIF photo booth, is the novelty cocktail. At last night's "Shin Digg" (get it?) in New York, the chic aggregator was serving gin-based middle fingers to one of its vocal critics.

Betaworks, that company that owns Digg now, just bought Instapaper, that app you use to read articles on the bus. This is exciting, because Betaworks has done a very nice job with Digg—but now Instapaper creator Marco Arment will have more time to tweet about his BMW.
