It appears as though our imperialist friends across the Atlantic have elevated the feature-length glossy troll to an art form. There is no other way to explain why the December issue of British Vogue decided to refer to Yahoo CEO (CEO!) Marissa Mayer, One Kings Lane cofounder Alison Pincus, and Kleiner Perkins partner Juliet de Baubigny as the "alpha trio" of new breed of socialite: "Silicon Wives and Girlfriends."

If Yahoo's determination to dump money on every faltering startup doesn't somehow save the company, at least CEO Marissa Mayer will have a souvenir from the good times.

Is this the "big moment" for face computers? Does pairing a $2,300 Gucci turtleneck or $1,200 Balenciaga boots with a $1,500 pair of gadget glasses make them haute? Will you look like a model—or will the model look like you? No to all of these, of course, but Google's at least scored itself some glossy mag cachet.
