From what I can gather from the not-really-streaming livestream, the presenters had come to praise Flickr, not to bury it.

"We were talking about another company that dropped the 'e' before the 'r,' and we realized we wanted to make Flickr awesome again," Marissa Mayer told the crowd. But not before Mayor Bloomberg took the stage to point out the new media symbolism in Yahoo's takeover of the old New York Times building at 229 West 43rd Street, now the headquarters for its 500 employees in New York City.

In between all the "awesomes," Flickr got "biggr" announcing a free terabyte of space for all.

With any luck, we won't have to meet back in Times Square eight years hence to hear Yahoo realize it wants to Tumblr "awesome again."
